Check the record

Every event we record stays as it was recorded: the database refuses to change or delete one. Shortly after midnight in Tbilisi each finished day is sealed with a fingerprint of all its events, linked to the day before. Download any day and check it yourself.

How the seal works

  • The day's events are written out as one CSV file: every event, counted or not, oldest first — the minute, what happened, the page, the article, how the reader arrived, country, device, whether it counted and its receipt. No reader and no address is in it.
  • Its fingerprint is the SHA-256 of that file, exactly as you download it.
  • Its link is the SHA-256 of four lines: the previous day's link, the date, the number of events and the fingerprint. The first day follows sixty-four zeros.
  • Changing any sealed day changes its fingerprint, its link and every link after it. Keep a copy of the latest link, and no earlier day can be rewritten without you seeing it.
