Georgian Blueberries for Export: How GBGA Connects International Buyers with Growers

Established in 2023, the Georgia Blueberry Growers Association represents 23 growers managing more than 1,100 hectares of blueberry plantations. Through its Export Hub, international buyers can submit a single inquiry specifying product requirements, shipment volumes and preferred delivery windows. The Georgia Blueberry Growers Association, or GBGA, was established in 2023. It now represents 23 growers whose blueberry plantations cover more than 1,100 hectares.

For international buyers, the association's Export Hub provides a single starting point for sourcing inquiries. Importers can specify what they need, in what volume, for which delivery period and under which requirements. GBGA processes the inquiry and forwards it to its exporter members.

Product specifications

The varieties listed by GBGA include Suziblue, Blue Ribbon, Duke, Legacy, Bluegold, Bluecrop, O'Neal and Star.

Buyers can also specify berry size. The listed grades are 12 mm and above, 18 mm and above for jumbo, and 22 mm and above for super jumbo.

Packaging options include 3 kg bulk packs and punnets of 125 g, 200 g, 230 g and 500 g.

The inquiry form also allows buyers to specify certification requirements, including GlobalG.A.P., GRASP and SPRING.

Availability of a particular variety, size, packaging format or required certification is confirmed with the exporter handling the inquiry.

Supply window and shipment volume

Georgia's main blueberry harvest window runs from calendar week 20 through week 30.

That corresponds approximately to mid-May through late July, although availability for a specific delivery week depends on the variety and producer.

According to the Export Hub, export inquiries can start from one container, with a container defined as a shipment of up to 15 tons.

At the inquiry stage, buyers can specify shipment volume, preferred delivery week, destination market, varieties, berry size, packaging, certification requirements and payment terms.

How the Export Hub works

The Export Hub is not an online marketplace or a direct sales platform. Its purpose is to structure the buyer's initial requirements and connect the inquiry with GBGA's exporter members.

Once a form is submitted, GBGA processes the information and forwards the inquiry to its member exporters.

The association lists a processing time of 3 to 5 business days.

Commercial terms, product availability, final specifications and delivery arrangements are then confirmed directly with the responding exporter.

Access to international markets

Georgia's free trade agreements and its proximity to European, Gulf and Asian markets form part of the country's proposition as an agricultural export origin.

The commercial and customs conditions applicable to an individual shipment depend on its destination market.

GBGA has also built an international presence through major industry events. The association has attended Fruit Logistica Berlin 2025, Gulfood Dubai 2025, Asia Fruit Logistica, Fruit Attraction Madrid and HICOOL 2024.

Since March 2025, the Georgia Blueberry Growers Association has been a member of the International Blueberry Organization, or IBO.

For international buyers, the practical value of the Export Hub is straightforward. Instead of sending the same initial sourcing brief separately to multiple exporters, a buyer can submit one structured inquiry through GBGA and then confirm availability, specifications and commercial terms with the responding supplier.
